Isn't it easier and quicker to acquire an already assembled firearm versus building one from unfinished parts?
Certainly some number of criminal types have the machine and mechanical skills to make a functioning firearm. I'm not talking zip-gun here.
I cannot find where the FBI keeps track of home made firearms used in crimes.
