Does anyone have their own range on their property?

Post by PaREEEEEEplant »

I am familiar with the laws regarding setting up your own range on your property.

Has anyone on here actually done it?

What city?

Cops?

It is SOP for us in North FLA. I have a steel target range in my front yard. Mainly for pistol, as my long range target is only 87 yards out. Could be more, but I am happy with it as-is.

I use a simple shooting bench on my slighty-elevated front porch.

Perfectly legal. Steel is noisy for neighbors, but thats life. I dont shoot much any more.

I have a small range in the backyard. Backstop is a railroad tie wall with dirt behind it. It’s 50 yards and I only shoot .22s and air rifles on it. Occasionally I’ll shoot a little 9mm and will test fire rifles for function. Pretty much only shoot suppressed so the neighbors aren’t bothered. I’m in unincorporated Palm Beach in Loxahatchee.

Did you have to get "approved" with the local PD?
Did they come and visit when you started shooting?
Neighbors call the cops?

I came from rural PA. Built a range and let 'er rip. Not one visit from LE.

Where in North FL do you live?

Quickly realized I need to move us out of South FL...

Looking at Eastern Orlando area.

I am in Suwannee Cnty, living in the woods. Peaceful, quiet, cheap.

No. none of that stuff.

I am on 15 acres, so neighbors arent too close.

The very day I went to the store and got targets to shoot a new 1022 in my back yard, good old Scott signed a bill stating we needed 1 acre of land, and all lots around us had to be a minimum of 1 acre. I only have 1/2 acre. Was about to shoot anyway the other day, and the lot behind me sold, and has a home there now.

None of the above for me either..like i said I usually shoot suppressed .22s so the noise is minimal. My one neighbor knows I shoot and doesnt care. I usually hear gunshots every weekend

I want to do this so bad.
There’s 10 acres and neighbor has jumping horses.
I would not suppress cause I don’t have one.
I wouldn’t pisss them off but I’m sure I’d do it daytime or
Weekends.
Anyone want to help build one and come shoot?
I’m PBC
Fla shooter can I get some
Advice on how you did yours?
Would like to shoot pistol 22 up to 40.
Ammo would be only thing holding me back.

"Scott signed a bill stating we needed 1 acre of land,"

I could have sworn it was 5 acres, but I have made mistakes before ...
