Florida CCW Reciprocity

Post by Bobberfishin »

We may need to head up to Ashville, NC in the next few weeks. I've checked the states maps showing which states have reciprocity with a Florida resident having a Concealed Weapon Permit. With the way things have escalated in the last few days with regard to the Minneapolis situation/riots I definitely wanted to take a carry pistol with us. 2 of us have a FL permit.
I want to be sure of Georgia, South Carolina & North Carolina policy pertain to a FL resident having a CCW permit. If pulled over in FL you do not have to inform the officer that you are carrying, you may want to, but it's not the law.
What about in GA, SC & NC? Any personal experience, help or insight would be appreciated. Thanks, Bob

I believe it answers this question for every state.

I guess I was searching more for an answer that if you get pulled over, what is the correct way to deal with the LEO.
In which states are you required to disclose that you're carrying in your vehicle?
What to expect once you inform them?

The site I gave you answers that for each state. As to what you can expect, that will vary by officer.

I read them & appreciate the links. Great info.
I saw that in GA you don't need to let them know, but in SC & NC you must inform them.
Wondering if anybody had upfront personal experience when pulled over in another sate that has reciprocity with FL.
How did the LEO react when informed of a FL CCW in another state?

South Carolina.
State trooper didn't even give me a chance to say I had a weapon.
First question "do you have a gun in the car?"
Then he goes into the "do you know why I stopped you?"

After we got our business done, a warning, I asked why he inquired if I was armed. His reply was almost every Florida car he stopped had a gun in it.

Appreciate the 1st hand info.
That's what I'm searching to find out.
Real life situations & the way it was handled by all parties.
